When you bring a child into the world, you never ever want to outlive them. It is just NOT the way things are meant to go. I have friends who lost a teenage son to cancer somewhat recently and the grief I feel FOR them wouldn't compare to grief in their broken hearts I am sure.
But what about when a child commits suicide? It's such a scary, scary concept isn't it!?
If you have been hit with this tragedy - I am so very very sad for you. My prayer for you is that you find peace and comfort even now as you read this words, knowing that you are loved beyond comprehension by our God. I really hope you have had and continue to have support and love from others helping you walk through this time.
These days it is not uncommon to know someone affected by suicide in some way and I believe that we owe it to each other, our 'village' to be ready and willing to help each other if this horrible tragedy occurs.
Attached here is an article about how a marriage can survive the suicide of a child. But it isn't just about marriage. It's about how the navigate the grieving process. Even if you are not in this situation, it is worth the time to check it out so that you can be a support to someone else if this tragedy someday affects someone in your world.
And... pray for protection for your children. Specifically pray for protection from mental illness. Ask God to cover them with peace and assurance that they are His child. Pray now and don't stop!
