We've just arrived home from a family holiday where we cruised to PNG and had some quality time together after Matt's return from deployment. It was very late on the last night after the farewell party in teens club, and our kids were sleepily climbing into bed, when Abi announced that Joey had been voted 'Mr Pacific Dawn'. Well the laughter that followed sure woke us all up! But it was no surprise really. Joey had put his all into befriending the crew and kids everywhere he went. His absolute indiscriminate love for people regardless of their age, colour, size or intelligence is to be admired. He values people and in turn makes friends easily. But it isn't that easy for everyone. Me included! How about you? I've spent countless hours psyching myself up to meet new people and to this day have to make the effort to not 'retreat' when things get awkward. I hope I'm not the only one! It's tough out there and hiding is just so much easier. But... friends are important and we all need them. You know it and I know it. This link gives some wonderful insight into building friendships based on God's advice. It doesn't get much clearer and it is an easy read. It's really worth your time!
